I don’t talk nearly enough about the amazing work that Getting Back Up continues to do on a consistent basis (please check out the 2024 GBU Impact Report). However, the organization remains diligent in its mission of transforming the lives of individuals with spinal cord injuries through funding exercise-based therapy programs and adaptable products.

I am deeply proud of how much GBU has grown over the years. This past year has been our busiest and our awareness continues to spread throughout the country. Unfortunately, our resources do not allow us to help everyone, but we try our best to make an impact on as many lives as possible.

This Giving Tuesday, if you are in a position to do so, please consider a tax-deductible donation to support GBU.

I cannot overstate how much your generosity can impact the lives of others.

Your Support Is a Lifeline: For many SCI survivors, life takes a dramatic turn in an instant. What were once simple activities are now monumental challenges. Although great strides have been made through medical advances, insurance rarely covers the ongoing expenses associated with therapy and specialized equipment needed for recovery and daily living. GBU fills this gap and empowers individuals to regain strength, independence, and confidence. For these individuals, your donation represents not just financial aid but a renewed sense of possibility.

Your Support Restores Hope and Independence – Living with an SCI is as much an emotional challenge as it is a physical one. The loss of mobility can lead to isolation, depression, and a loss of purpose. However, with the right tools and therapy, many SCI survivors can rediscover independence and reclaim their lives. By supporting GBU, you’re contributing to the recovery journey of someone determined to rebuild their life. Your generosity enables survivors to push through barriers and achieve milestones—standing for the first time in months, returning to work, or even regaining the ability to participate in beloved hobbies.

Your Support Is Transparent and Impact-Driven – When you donate to GBU, you can trust that your gift is making a real difference. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the organization is funded solely through private donations and operates with minimal overhead, ensuring that every dollar goes directly toward helping those in need. The organization’s transparent and well-defined application process ensures that funds are allocated to qualified individuals who will truly benefit.

Your support Has a Ripple Effect of Your Generosity – Supporting GBU doesn’t just impact one person—it strengthens entire families and communities. Spinal cord injuries affect not only the individual but also their loved ones, who often become caregivers. By aiding recovery and restoring independence, your donation helps ease the burden on families and enables survivors to reintegrate into their communities as active and engaged members.

Your donation to Getting Back Up is more than a charitable act—it’s a gift of hope, mobility, and possibility for someone striving to overcome life-altering challenges. This Giving Tuesday, please consider supporting this incredible organization and join a movement of generosity that changes lives.

Together, we can help spinal cord injury survivors stand tall, push forward, and truly get back up!
