Last Thursday evening I was honored to receive The Hon. John V Corrigan ’38 Distinguished Alumnus Award from my famed alma mater, St. Ignatius high school.
The award honors an alumnus who distinguishes himself through outstanding achievements in his profession, uses his talents and skills for those in need and serves as a positive role model for Saint Ignatius students through high moral and ethical standards and service to the school. Knowing how many outstanding and worthy men have passed through the halls of St. Ignatius only deepens my gratitude.
My time spent at St. Ignatius is a great source of pride in my life. I love what the school stands for, the character it instills, and the relationships it builds. Beyond just an education, St. Ignatius ignited within me a spirit rooted in faith, service, and fellowship.
The education I received at Ignatius laid the strong foundation for my future. I am profoundly grateful to my teachers and coaches who not only imparted their knowledge, but helped nurture my curiosity, challenge my thinking, and inspire me to strive for excellence. Whether in the classroom or on the athletic field, their lessons prepared me to navigate the complexities of life with confidence, integrity, and faith.
What truly transformed my experience at St. Ignatius was the spirit of the school. The sense of camaraderie, collective pursuit of excellence, and support from others created a rich environment. I cherish the hours spent in service projects, athletic events, and lively discussions, all of which fostered a lasting sense of fellowship.
Central to my St. Ignatius journey was the deepening of my faith. The spiritual growth I underwent during those formative years is something I hold dear. The guidance of the Jesuit teachings instilled in me the importance of seeing God in all people, and of living a life of purpose and meaning, grounded in a love for others and a commitment to service.
I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire St. Ignatius community—past and present. To the faculty who inspired me, to the friends who supported me, and to the family who has stood by me, I am eternally grateful. To my fellow classmates – the bonds we formed at Wildcat High are among the most cherished in my life. Rooted in mutual respect and shared values, these relationships continue to uplift and support me in ways that words can’t justify. Thank you.
Most importantly, to my family—Mom, Dad, and Lindsey—your unwavering love and support have been my guiding light. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the countless sacrifices you have made. I love you.
AMDG.
Stand Strong!

Scott:
Very pleased and not surprised you received the AWARD.
Your comments are very similar to my thoughts regarding my education in Zanesville, OH @ Bishop Rosecrans Catholic High School. Our class of 100 in 1960 were educated by Fransican and Dominican nuns complimented by Diocesan priests.
I am currently in Tionesta PA in the cabin and attending daily mass and the Membership Chair for St Titus Parish TITUSVILLE PA KOC.
Maybe you could with a ride with Cousin Deanna or Andrea for a visit
They are blessed to have an alumnus as incredible as you, Scott. An absolutely deserved honor. Congratulations. Martha
