“Faith gives us real eyes to realize where the real lies.”

Just a quick update to let everyone know how up and down this injury can be.  As great as I have been feeling lately, I have been on bed rest for the past three days.  This is due to some pressure spots that have developed from the extended time I have been spending in my chair.  It’s a cruel twist of fate, that because of the time I spend out of bed getting on with my life it can work against me and force me back into bed.  I do as many weight shifts as I can while in my chair, but unfortunately can’t always compensate for the fact I just don’t have enough of a butt to ward off the pressure from sitting.  So it will probably be another few days of low key activities – the only good news is I can watch a lot of football this weekend.

Speaking of football, this past weekend a Rutgers football player suffered a tragic accident while making a tackle.  Eric LeGrand, broke his neck at C3/C4 and has shown no sign of movement  below his neck since the injury.  Once again, I am reminded of the devastation of an SCI.  It seems to be more prevalent than ever, or at least I am more aware than ever.  I have reached out to Eric and his family to offer any assistance I can provide.  I ask that as you pray for me, please pray for all of us living with SCI’s.

Finally, the support bracelets are in and will be available for purchase in the near future.  I will be posting details on my website.  A portion of the proceeds raised will be donated to The Miami Project to help find a cure for paralysis.  Stay tuned for more details.

As always, thank you for your prayers and support.  It is greatly appreciated.

Scott

As down as things can be you are always moving forward!
All the efforts you make to check on others that are recent patients with this injury is just a great outreach you can bring that nobody else can!

Keep being the voice God needs you to be – you act on His behalf with every effort you make to help others.

    Be God’s ~

“Many doctors still don’t understand that “incurable” is an extremely damaging way of saying “I don’t know how to cure it.” The body is made up of at least 10,000 trillion cells, so the likelihood of anyone understanding all its connections and misconnections is zero.” Stephen Kiesling (editor in chief of Spirituality & Health magazine)

    HI Scott,
Sorry to hear about the pressure spots. I know how you hate to be in bed but as you said, just enjoy the games.
Hear about that young man that was injured. If anyone can give him hope you can. You have done so much to help others and what a wonderful gift that is to give.
    Love to you,
    Cherry

What a bummer!!! Is there anyway to cushion the seat with foam or padding? It was so wonderful to see you and get a chance to hang out, have dinner, watch a game and share some good times. As always, continued love and positive thoughts. Aunt Marilou

What cushion are you using.? I worked for a company out here in Utah that made wheelchair cushions using a product called Zero Gravity. One of the guys that worked for us was wheelchair bound (over 20 years) and it really helped him with pressure points.

    Hey, Scott!

Do you have both tilt and recline on your chair? Doug LOVES his Permobil and after 38 years, it is the first chair he can adequately pressure relieve himself without losing position. We would be glad to call you and tell you more about options to keep your backside happy.

    Take care and God Bless!
