Happy New Year!
I think it’s been more than a month since I posted something. Like most of you, the past several weeks have kept me busy spending lots of time with family, visits with friends, and other gatherings, including a few concerts.
The holiday warmth of December has quickly been replaced by the frigid temperatures of January. At one point during today, the wind chill factor was -26°F. I also read that it was so cold in Chicago that a polar bear had to be moved indoors.
The good news: we’re one day closer to the start of summer…
Many people find themselves making resolutions this time of year. In the past, there have been some years I’ve made resolutions and other years I didn’t. Last year I wrote down 3 very specific things I wanted to accomplish. I’m pleased to say that I made plenty of headway on all of them, however, still have some unfinished business to complete in 2015 that should keep me busy.
While I won’t be making any new specific resolutions, there are a few things I hope to incorporate into my daily routine.
Don’t waste a second chance. Read the New Testament. Drink more water.
A bit random, but so too is life.
Finally, 2014 was a banner year for spinal cord injury research. Several major milestones were achieved over the past 12 months. I remain confident that the positive momentum will continue to carry itself forward into the next 12 months.
That being said, I continue to work hard on my road to “recovery”, a relative term for sure, but a worthwhile pursuit, nonetheless. Below is a 30-second clip of a recent workout at Buckeye Wellness Center in which I was able to initiate some leg muscle movement. Inch by inch…
All the best for a very healthy and happy 2015!
Stand Strong!
Scott
hi scott, glad to see you are moving right along in a positive direction. i pray for you and your complete recovery daily. i also ask for a breakthrough for all involved in spinal cord injuries recovery. I Believe in Miracles. i enjoy the season’s change very much but my body like many others responds to temperature differently as i age and my illnesses progress. i am recovering from another vasculitis flare-up thats been going on since just before Thanksgiving. it kinda snuck up on me, i wish i would have started the medication sooner but surprize and there i am. so now weening off the meds that help me through it. feeling better than i was. crazy stuff we go though…….. God Bless
I will never take for granted what my body can do after seeing how you struggle just to move. If anybody can do it, you can. Hope 2015 is your year!
