Thank you to everyone who has pitched in so far on the Shelter Furnishings Fund!
I am always humbled by the support I continue to receive. Mine is just one story, and there are so many others struggling with their own challenges, whatever those may be.
It’s always a moment for pause when I reflect on how much has changed over these past 6 1/2 years, not just for me, but for several of my closest friends.
There have been those who have endured tremendous suffering – the loss of a child, a spouse, or parent; a debilitating disease; an unexpected hardship, etc. I remember the fun times I shared with those same individuals, at times thinking we’d be young forever and that things would only get better. The bad stuff could be avoided. We all know that’s not the case.
Reality hits us hard.
But kindness can hit even harder.
And I am grateful and blessed by the kindness I receive. I try my best to pay it forward, but it never seems like enough. However, it’s an honor to keep trying.
Cleveland State University’s Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA), in collaboration with Buckeye Wellness Center is planning a “Bowl for a Cause” event. The event will benefit Getting Back Up, and its mission towards helping individuals living with spinal cord injuries. A portion of the proceeds will also go to providing Buckeye Wellness Center new exercise equipment, so that those living with injuries can continue to get the exercise-based therapy they need.
This exciting event will be held March 12, 2016 from 2pm to 4pm at Cloverleaf Lanes in Independence, Ohio. At the events, individuals both with and without spinal cord injuries are able to challenge each other in friendly games of bowling.
If you or your company might be interested in sponsoring a Lane, please feel free to contact either myself or Michelle Wirth, SOTA President (sotacsu@gmail.com). Information about sponsorship can be found on the GBU and BWC Donation Response Form.
The event is open to all, so feel free to stop in and bowl a few frames or just hang out!
As always, it can never be stated enough… Thank you for your prayers and support!
Stand Strong!
