“I hope that everything you find makes up for everything you lose.” – Crowfield (Inside Voices)

The first day of December also marked the first Sunday of Advent, a time recognized by Christians of expectant waiting and preparation for the birth of Christ. However, for many people it might just be the weeks leading up to Christmas, and thus, a missed opportunity to prepare themselves and reflect on something bigger. However, in the event you haven’t done this before, the good news is you have the next several weeks to do so.

Appropriately, it comes on the heels of Thanksgiving, in which we celebrated and appreciated all of the blessings in our lives. Now we have the opportunity to back up our words and pay homage for those gifts in our lives by preparing ourselves for the ultimate gift, Christ’s love. Whether or not you’re a Christian, or even of a religious mindset, you can still benefit from using the next month for some self-reflection and preparation.

Take a moment each day to be still and reflect on how you are choosing to live your days. If you like the path you’re on count yourself among the lucky ones. If things aren’t exactly going the way you like or need them to, reflect on what you have the power to change and what you can do to create that change. It might not be as hard as you think, but it will most likely take some discipline. Gandhi said it better than me, “Be the change you wish to see in this world.”

Today is also referred to as “Cyber Monday”, the day we are supposed to stop working and spend countless hours shopping online. Now I am not condoning that you put aside any job duties required of you, but merely suggesting that if you choose to do so, perhaps you might consider downloading a copy of the song, “Stand Tall” which was written and performed by Will Voegele.

As many of you know, the Voegeles are dear friends of my family. In fact, we just celebrated Thanksgiving with them and their extended family. What most of you might not know is that Will, like his daughter, Kate, is a very talented musician. He recently recorded a collection of inspirational and faith-based songs that he wrote over the past 10 years. One of these songs was inspired by my story.

A few weeks ago, Will informed me about the impetus behind his song, Stand Tall. Needless to say, I was extremely moved and very humbled by this news. He further explained he hoped I could benefit from the song and wanted all download proceeds from the song to go towards my recovery. I am extremely grateful for his act of generosity. However, I am more excited to help spread the word about his music!

Please check his music out by visiting www.willvoegele.com.

My sincere thanks to everyone for your continued prayers!

Stand Strong!

Scott
