“The New Year lies before you, like a spotless tract of snow. Be careful how you tread on it, for every mark will show.” – Unknown

This past Sunday’s edition of the Plain Dealer featured a four-page photo essay which chronicled part of the last three and a half years since my accident. Unfortunately, the paper decided to not print the much more comprehensive story that had been written to accompany the photos. Obviously, my family and I are disappointed with this decision, especially considering that the personal and intimate details shared could have benefited so many others facing similar adversity. However, I am thankful that a portion of our story could be told, and hope that others might find it beneficial if having to confront their own challenges.

Scott Fedor: A Life Interrupted

As the final hours of 2012 disappear, so too do I hope any regret, suffering and sorrow, you may have experienced, does as well. Many often associate the start of a new year with a new beginning, the opportunity to “get it right” and accomplish resolutions designed to offer some sort of validation, we might be seeking. A new year is also the chance to let go of what might be holding you down. If your resolutions always entail taking something on, perhaps 2013 is a chance to let something go.

I always like to ask myself at the end of every year if I’m in a better place than I was at the start of the year. Whether or not I’m better off is not as important as understanding what factors influenced the position I’m in, all the while having a clear grasp on what I can and cannot control. No one has to tell me that we don’t have as much control over the events that shape our outcomes as we’d like. But no one believes more than me that our attitude often influences that same outcome more than the event itself. If you really think about it, it’s quite a powerful concept to realize that is something that we can control. And since we can control that, why wait until the end of every year to take full advantage of it?

You don’t need to wait to hang a new calendar on the wall to write down all the positive changes you want to make in your life. However, this time of year is just as good as any to start influencing your outcome.

I am so thankful and appreciative for the continued prayer and support I have received each and every day of the year. Thank you! My sincerest best wishes are with all of you for a healthy, productive and fulfilling new year!

Stand Strong!

Scott

“The New Year lies beore you, like a spotless tract or snow. Be careful how you tread on it, or every mark will show.” Beautiul, Amazeing, and touching. Thank you Scott. I first saw your story in the Plain Dealer on December 30th and was so touched. You ARE such an inspiration and a miracle. God was watching out for you and put you in this position for a reason. I am a nurse ,and you have put a big dent in my heart. I just can’t get enough of you. I wish you nothing but the best in the future. And yes, 2013 is a year that I am letting go of something or someone. I look forward to reading your blogs and following your progress . Happy New Year Scott to you and your family.
