Hello,

I am finally done mourning the CAVS’ performance over the past 3 games. So I thought I would give you a quick update on what’s new.

The good news: last week I had my first session at the VA for the brain stimulation research study. After having 35 electrodes attached to my head, I wheeled myself in front of a computer and began the test. By concentrating on moving certain body parts my brain waves caused images to move on the screen. I would say my performance was 50-50 as far as generating movement; however, some of the lack of movement can be attributed to the software. I was told they were having several problems that day.Regardless, it was still exciting to see my thoughts move images on the screen. This will probably become a weekly activity – the only problem was that the ride to and from the facility was very bumpy and uncomfortable – makes you wonder where all the tax dollars go towards fixing the street. The other good news is that work on the website is moving along. Hart Associates has been great with the resources they’ve extended me to make this site a reality. Look forward to getting it live and sharing with everyone.

The bad news: I was very discouraged to find out that my therapy is over for the time being. Unfortunately, the facility can no longer provide me therapy without proper justification. I find this a little ridiculous considering that therapy is extremely important for a spinal cord injury the first 18 months. I am not even a year removed from my injury. Therapy is vital for me right now. Because therapy is being discontinued, the facility wants to move me to another wing where I would have a room-mate and, in my opinion, lesser care. I am in the process of trying to get information from my physician as to why I still need therapy. I would like to think that I can pursuade the facility to change its current feelings. Please pray that this becomes a reality. Unfortunately, Medicaid has yet to kick in so I don’t have the option of going anywhere else.

One other note of therapy, my mother has found a few programs within a few hours of cleveland that could be promising for some rehab. We are continuing to investigate any and all options. If anyone has any leads or info on therapy related solutions please send them my way.

Finally, I continue to meet lots of really great people – all eager to help out in anyway they can. It really is amazying and humbling.

As always thanks for your prayers and support.
Scott
