Nothing is impossible.”

I figured who better to quote today than Christopher Reeve. He and his foundation have done so much to advance awareness for spinal cord injuries. But he is not alone. I attached a link to an article that ran in yesterday’s USA Today newspaper. It talks about the Miami Project and everything it is doing to also help find a cure for spinal cord injuries.

I usually come across one or two articles a week relating to spinal cord injuries, research, medical breakthroughs etc. As interesting as they all are, I typically choose not to post these. However, I really felt the need to share the most recent article that Kristy referred me to. What really struck me about this article were the similarities between my story and Marc’s story. There is a point at which he talks about his disdain for the word “acceptance” and what it means. I have often spoken about my refusal to use the same word. I don’t like the meaning it seems to imply when talking about trying to overcome a SCI. As you read the article, I think you’ll understand why.

Another odd coincidence about my situation and this article is the concept of lucid dreaming. My massage therapist, Dave, got me interested in this phenomenon. I am currently reading the book, The Art of Dreaming, which discusses the idea of controlling your dreams, otherwise known as lucid dreaming. It is something I have just started to understand and begin to practice. I thought the timing of this article and the mention of lucid dreaming were more than coincidence.

Anyway, I wanted to share the article for you to enjoy, as it also talks about a lot of the research taking place at The Miami Project. I couldn’t help but feel a renewed sense of hope and excitement after reading everything going on with their research. You can access the article at the following link:

On another note, I am working on getting support bracelets made, similar to the Lance Armstrong “Live Strong” bracelets. They will be available for purchase and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to spinal cord research. I’ll post more details once they become available in the next few weeks.

Thank you for your prayers and support — it is so greatly appreciated!

Scott

    Dear Scott,
Thanks for the article. Hard to believe it has been 25 years for him. I can remember when it happened.
Good to know how much research is being done for SCI. Keep fighting for a cure and keep doing what you are doing.
    Love and prayers,
    Cherry

    Scott,

I read the USA article last week and found it very provacative and thought about you and others who have suffered this injury. It’s great to see that you’re very active digging into everything which is no surprise. I’m glad to hear you are coming along in so many ways.

Please know you, Kristy and your family are in my prayers…I miss being around you at Halex
