We all go through them. Some last longer. Some run deeper. But none of us are immune from them.

After my last post, several people reached out to inform me that they too were either in or had recently been in some sort of funk. I guess misery does love company.

Another thing about funks – it’s easier to fall into one than it is to climb out of one.

By no means do I hold the secret recipe for shedding the malaise we all sometimes find ourselves in, but I do think it’s as good a time as any to remind myself of what has helped me in the past. If you’ve been following me long enough, you’ve heard me preach these tenets ad nauseam. But they do work for me.

Focus on the NOW.

Celebrate the little victories.

Seek incremental gains.

Appreciate the little things.

Perhaps they might work for some others as well.

Stand Strong!

Scott I am so happy to get a post from you! This one was very much needed. I struggle every day with loss, depression and anxiety, but every night I go outside after dark and stare up at the sky. On any clear night just seeing the vast sky, the stars and the moon is so incredibly helpful to pull me out of that funk you’re referring to. It’s said there is a 1 in 400 trillion chance of being born on this planet. It makes me want to be here. I hope you write lots more. We all benefit from your insight and inspiration, Scott. Love ya!
