Do you want to push yourself physically and mentally?
Looking to do something fun and different?
Would you like to help individuals living with a spinal cord injury?

I’m very pleased to announce an exciting event taking place Memorial Day weekend in Twinsburg, Ohio!

Boot Camp Fit Survival Challenge is a 24 hour event designed to test both the mental and physical limits of participants. The Challenge consists of intense physical training (PT) sessions, mental challenges and scored missions. Participants compete in teams of 2 or 4 and must work together to be successful. The Challenge is designed for individuals of all fitness levels. Whether you are a couch potato, weekend warrior or avid exercise enthusiast, the Challenge’s unique design and team approach allows for participation by everyone.

And it’s for a great cause! A portion of the proceeds from Boot Camp Fit Survival Challenge will be donated to assist SCI individuals, including myself, in the participation of intensive exercise-based physical therapy programs.

The event was conceived and designed by Michael Giardina, a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps who has served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Mike is also my trainer at Buckeye Wellness Center. The two of us have frequently discussed the challenges with medical insurance and the financial means necessary when it comes to seeking aggressive exercise-based physical therapy programs. Mike took it upon himself to do something about it.

According to Mike, “I wanted to organize an event to bring awareness to anyone I could reach about spinal cord injuries and the individuals who currently suffer from them. Living with an SCI is not as easy as waking up, getting into a wheelchair and going about your ‘normal’ way of life. There are ups and downs, both physically and mentally that no one ever sees outside of family and health aides. But there is so much hope, drive, and determination I have witnessed in these individuals battling their injuries. Through exercise-based recovery programs we can help these individuals increase, gain and develop more function in their bodies and with the funds raised from this event we can help assist in the cost for such therapy. This event is designed to push the participants physically and mentally for 24 hours in hope to instill the struggles and accomplishments the individuals with SCIs endure every day of the week and every hour of the day.”

Please take a moment to learn more about the event at Boot Camp Fit Survival Challenge.

I hope that some of you weekend warriors might be able to take part in this exciting weekend!

Stand Strong!
