“Here comes the sun.” – George Harrison
It still might be a few weeks away, but the big thaw looks like it’s finally upon us. Warmer weather may have arrived. And I’m guessing, so too have the feelings of rejuvenation, hope and new frontiers.
So what are you going to do about it?
Everyone always talks about waiting for the right time to get started. Started with whatever it is in their life that needs to be embarked upon. In some cases, “starting” actually means “finishing”. Some things need to be wrapped up, put away, left on the shelf for good.
Are you starting something or finishing something?
Either way, it doesn’t really matter. What does matter is whether or not you’ve learned from your past.
Are you going to continue doing the same thing you’ve always done, hoping for different results (see: definition of insanity)? Or are you going to do things differently. Actually work towards a new result?
Today is April Fools’ Day. But just imagine if it were your last day on earth. How would you live it?
A simple, yet profound list arrived in my e-mail inbox the other day. And after reading it, you know something, I thought it actually might be useful.
Stop spending time with the wrong people.
Stop running from your problems.
Stop lying to yourself.
Stop putting your own needs on the back burner.
Stop trying to be someone you’re not.
Stop trying to hold onto the past.
Stop being scared to make a mistake.
Stop berating yourself for old mistakes.
Stop trying to buy happiness.
Stop exclusively looking to others for happiness.
Stop being idle.
Stop thinking you’re not ready.
Stop getting involved in relationships for the wrong reason.
Stop rejecting new relationships just because old ones didn’t work.
Stop trying to compete against everyone else.
Stop being jealous of everyone else.
Stop complaining and feeling sorry for yourself.
Stop holding grudges.
Stop letting others bring you down to their level.
Stop wasting time explaining yourself to others.
Stop doing the same things over and over without taking a break.
Stop overlooking the beauty of small moments.
Stop trying to make things perfect.
Stop trying to follow the path of least resistance.
Stop acting like everything is fine if it isn’t.
Stop blaming others for your troubles.
Stop trying to be everything to everyone.
Stop worrying so much.
Stop focusing on what you don’t want to happen.
Stop being ungrateful.
That sure is a lot of “Stops.”
Isn’t it about time to get started.
Stand Strong!
Scott
Thanks Scott, needed that reminder. God bless

Fabulous! If only we could always remember this list!, Love, Aunt Marilou
As usual, you’re right on target with your remarks. We would be in a much better place if we could just stop doing half of the things on this list and start being content. I’m starting today 🙂
Boy, did you hit the nail on the head!!! Thanks for the wake-up call!!!
Happy April Fools Day!! On to warmer weather……
God Bless You – Mary
Awesome post, Scott. Thank you!
