You asked. Now I answer. I received a lot of questions that were various forms of one another so I tried to group everything together as best as possible.
Why does it sometimes say “Page Not Found” when I click on the link in your email? This might happen on occasion, as well as instances when antivirus software flags my page as unsafe and will not let it be accessed. There is nothing wrong with my site and it is safe, however, unfortunately, some antivirus software (especially Norton) will flag certain sites like mine. Don’t know why. I’ve tried to correct with them, but it’s a very slow process. In the meantime you might need to either view the site on a different device or add the URL to a list of “safe sites” on your computer.
What do you like best about The Quad so far?
My new home is in Westlake, Ohio. It is my own personal property. Plans are still in place to pursue building The Quad at some point. However, it is a significant undertaking that will require ample resources. I am always in contact trying to learn from others who have done similar things in different parts of the country. I was fortunate to learn a great deal throughout the process of building this past home.
What is your favorite color?
Blue (and all of its various shades).
What is your favorite food?
Pizza and Brussels sprouts. I could eat them both every day.
What is your favorite drink?
I wish I could say water. And if you’ve been reading this blog since its inception you might think it was blue Kool-Aid. However, it’s wine.
What is your favorite TV show or movie currently?
Favorite show at the moment is Bloodline on Netflix. I watch a lot of movies. One that currently sticks out in my mind was something I saw more than a year ago called, Out of the Furnace.
Who are you voting for president?
I’ll be voting for the candidate whom I believe can best lead us forward. There are a lot of serious issues facing our nation. Get out and vote.
What is the thing that makes you want to get out of bed each morning?
Every day exists the possibility to discover something new or experience a new opportunity. I look forward to each morning and every new day knowing life can change (for the better) at any second.
What is your biggest fear?
Waking up one morning and no longer feeling happy.
I know you have favorite quotes and sayings but do you have a specific mantra that you think of/repeat to yourself on a daily basis?
“You only live once, but if you live right once is enough” has always been a favorite of mine. I definitely try to keep the mantra “stay positive” at the forefront of my thinking.
Have you ever thought about writing a book?
Yes. It is something I plan to pursue in the very near future.
How many speaking engagements do you do a year?
Usually about 8-10. So far, all of my engagements have been due to others contacting me. It’s my intent to put a proactive campaign in place. In the meantime, if you know of a business or organization that would like to have me speak, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Do you foresee yourself getting married again and having a family?
Perhaps.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I honestly haven’t ever thought about it. Since my accident, I find myself no longer thinking ahead in large blocks of time. Rather, I might think about something a few months from now, maybe a year or so, but that is really about as long as I have let my horizon span. Perhaps that might change down the road.
What is the last vivid dream you had?
I have vivid dreams on a frequent basis. A few years ago I was really into practicing the art of lucid dreaming. I haven’t had a true lucid dream in a while, but the last vivid dream I recall involved me playing football for St. Ignatius. Interesting side note: I have never had a dream where I am in a wheelchair. In all of my dreams I am fully aware that I broke my neck and was paralyzed at one point, but have since recovered. And in my dreams I find myself guarded so that I don’t break it again
Have you read any Eckhart Tolle and what do you think of his ideas? Are you able to wrap your mind around that stuff?
I read his book, The Power of Now, several years ago and wrote a blog post about similar ideas that I have picked up along the way (click here to read). I don’t think any of Eckhart’s ideas are radical in nature, several authors and philosophers have posited the same thinking structure over the years. However, I believe it’s the practice of these ideas that people struggle with on a consistent basis. Some others whom I’ve read that I highly recommend checking out are Carlos Castaneda, Anthony de Mello, Wayne Dyer, and Dan Millman.
Do you still keep in contact with Kristy?
No. Kristy moved back to Northern Virginia in early 2011. She remarried, had a baby and started a family. A part of me that still feels things ended prematurely and not enough time was fairly given to see what life might be like. I don’t blame her for the decision she made, I just feel she made her mind up way too soon before really giving things a chance to see what life could be like. I’ve reflected on this a lot over the years and honestly feel that I would’ve handled things differently had the roles been reversed. However, there is no way to ever know for sure. I still miss her and think of her often. But I wish her well.
Are you excited to be an uncle?
Absolutely! For those who aren’t aware, Lindsey is expecting a baby girl in October. And I can’t wait!
Hopefully I addressed everything. If I didn’t, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Of course, you can always feel free to ask me anything at anytime.
Stand Strong!
Scott
Loved this, Scott. Wow, imagine going up to someone, a close friend, a family member, much less a perfect stranger, and saying “ask me anything you want to know about me”. Oh wait, that’s what you did.
Bravo.
I always feel like I’m in “stumble upon” when I read your blogs, because one post of yours leads me to look something up or click on one of your sites and then that leads to another adventure…anyway, I just purchased Joe vs The Volcano off Amazon and I can’t wait to watch it, thanks to you.
Sarah.
Glad you are hanging in there! I am too! God bless.
Lynne
Oh, one more thing, can’t wait to buy your book!
Thankyou for being open to questions that are personal and interesting about you. Congratulations on being a future uncle! Babies bring such joy.
Thanks, Scott, for answering all the questions. That was a NEAT thing to do.
