This past Saturday was the St. Baldrick’s event at the Rocky River Brewing Company/The Force. It was a huge success, raising more than $200,000 for children’s cancer research! There was an amazing turnout and more than 100 people had their heads shaved.
It was especially heartwarming to see how many kids were willing to shave their heads. Most of them probably didn’t grasp the magnitude of what they were doing, but just doing it because one of their friends/classmates/someone they know is “sick”.
I think that makes it even more special.
Among the kids was my neighbor Marcus. His dad brought him and his brother up to watch me have my head shaved and Marcus ended up with a shaved head as well! Such a great kid.
The afternoon also served as a mini St. Ignatius reunion, as several of my classmates were in attendance to participate. We were there for Eric’s son, Shane, but also for all the children living with cancer. Fellow Ignatius alum and Cleveland Browns quarterback, Brian Hoyer, even stopped by.
My sincere thanks to everyone who supported the cause with generous donations!
Below are some pictures as well as a video from the day.
Stand Strong!

scott, well done!
Well done, Scott! It looks like you had great fun while doing something wonderful for a worthwhile cause. All that’s missing is the ear ring, dude! BTW, many of the geezers I hang around with would love to have as much hair as you, even after the shave:)
Scott, you look wonderful, probably never had so much fun getting a haircut. Wonderful that you raised so much money.
God bless and keep you,
Cherry
Scott, you are truly an amazing man! You don’t just ‘talk the talk, you walk the walk’. I believe God is working through you to help others, myself included. Love your new look!!
Scott,
You look great both with hair and without.
You are amazing!
It was great to meet you Scott!
(and to see your the rest of your family again too)
Cancer touches everyone’s life….but it’s gratifying to know that a little boy named Shane (plus all the other little ‘Shane’s’ in the world) can touch us even more and spark us into action!
Scott – This is a good look; you will look great no matter what because the Glory of God shines through you. May you have a day full of Blessings through God’s Grace.
Scott, thank you for writing!
God Bless You!
Kathy
