In late 2012, a German film crew for Spiegel Online visited Cleveland for part of a story they were producing about spinal cord injury research happening in the United States.
Spiegel Online is the online sibling of Germany’s, Der Spiegel, one of Europe’s largest publications of its kind, with a weekly circulation of more than 1 million. And according to, The Economist, it is also one of Europe’s most influential magazines.
I was asked to participate in the story due to my experience with some of the research that’s been taking place. I am fortunate to have been included, as well as having had the opportunity to brag about what is happening here in Cleveland.
The piece was recently aired and I have been informed by the producer that it was very well received and a much longer version will air in August.
While the 7 minute story is in German, it is relatively easy to follow along with its theme. My portion is highlighted in the first couple minutes. If you have the time, I would encourage you to watch the whole story to see some of the fascinating developments that have taken place.
